CAVIAR to the Rescue

I promised to “review” a product once per month but after just a few uses, I felt compelled to share with you, the benefits of Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Overnight Hair Rescue – that was a mouthful…. 😉

Okay, listen up. The same way you moisturize and replenish your skin and face while you sleep, you should do for your hair too. And what a concept! For many of us, this isn’t necessarily new. For me, I have been doing this using coconut oil with peppermint (See my Peppermint Pre-Poo post) but now there is a specialized product, “this powerful formula contains micro-sized natural hair proteins and amino acids that quickly penetrate each strand to revive hair from the inside. Bio-identical hair lipids restore hair’s natural shine, elasticity and softness while moisturizing agents repair damaged shafts and seal the cuticles, preventing future breakage – http://www.dermstore.com.” It is easy for products to make claims and many do but the proof is in the pudding on this one. I even got my mom and sister to convert. We also tried their shampoo and conditioner and we were impressed with the results. The overnight treatment leaves your hair looking shiny, feeling soft and smelling fresh and with curly hair, that is very important. When I rubbed the quarter-size amount of treatment through my hair, the product was quickly adsorbed. And, unlike Coconut Oil, I didn’t leave residue on my pillowcase! The product is FREE of Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates, Synthetic Color, Paraffines, Gluten, DEA/TEA, Mineral Oil & Petrolatum.

This product can be purchased at Ulta, Sephora and online. It retails at approximately $26 – $38 or so. I know it seems expensive but I do believe that it is worth the price and with a name like CAVIAR, would you expect something less? The packaging is very pleasant and almost innovative. Still not convinced? Checkout the video below and give it a try. Let me know what you think!

  1. So you like the caviar hair stuff I worry about sleeping with stuff in my hair. I feel like it will make me break out if my face touches my pillow

  2. Thanks for the comment! This is a definite concern and I can sympathize with you. I have very sensitive skin and the slightest product can make me breakout. I personally have never had breakouts caused by using coconut oil or Caviar (pre-poos). Coconut oil is actually beneficial for your skin. Caviar claims to not leave any residue on your pillowcase and from my experience, my hair completely soaked up the product before I was tucked in for the night. By soaked up I mean it went from slightly damp (after using the product) to completely dry in a matter of a few minutes. You should give it a try and IF it makes you breakout, maybe you could use a shower cap or could you try wearing it during the day? Just some ideas.
